Evan Tapper is intrigued by classical tales, particularly those describing (or prescribing) gender roles throughout the ages. Drawing visual inspiration for a work in the University of Winnipeg’s Permanent Collection, Leda (and Swan) by Arthur Adamson, Swoon took the form of a multi-media installation conceived to explore the ancient Greek stores involving the god Zeus and his strange encounters with mortal women thereby prompting viewers to consider issues of power, misogyny, agency, sexuality, and violence.
